As I was looking to do some work around the house, I started googling and shopping for a circular saw. Low and behold, my facebook and youtube reels had been loaded with woodworking videos due to data mining. This lead me to the first video I saw on youtube from Steve Ramsey, creator of The Weekend Woodworker.
Steve's approach to woodworking is to reach those who have never picked up a tool in their life. He has an amazing ability of teaching the basics of woodworking without overwhelming a complete beginner. His goal is to breakthough the individuals that would normally be intimidated to enter the field of woodworking due to tool cost, not having a space or shop, or the general stereotypical fit for the hobby. Steve does all this by creating courses and videos to teach the basics step by step. Watch the video and visit HERE.
Matt Outlaw is the creator of 731 Woodworks. As a beginning woodworker, you start to make and sell you projects. Some of the difficulties with selling your projects is to know what to charge and when to charge it. This video was 731 Woodworks most viewed video of all time. Matt is able to convey what items he has made, how to make it, and what to sell it for. This is huge in the woodworking community. It provides information on what items have a great profit margin, an appropriate retail price, and how to make it.
Matt had started his channel expressing how he got into woodworking and what it meant for him to the make the career jump he did. His aspiring story talks about how he was a Arkansas State Trooper who had a passion to make things with his hands and the moves he made to make to provide the same finacial security. He speaks to those who are concerned of making that leap and how to mitigate problems that are detrimential to your success. Learn More HERE.
Jay Bates is the creator of Jay's Custom Creations. Jay is known for his explemary woodworking, but as you can see in the provided video, he has impressive video editing. Jay creates woodworking videos from the beginners all the way to intricate speciailities such as CNCs and fine woodworking. Jay has the ability to create practical builds with great aesthetic and design.
One of the projects I learned from Jay's Custom Creations was the keychain holder. Jay laid out a step by step process on how to create a simple, but very practical piece of art. Jay's videos and courses are beginner friendly, but are also adequate for intermediate and heavily experienced woodworkers. Learn More HERE.
